Pick His Brain!
I’d like to introduce one of our members, Adeal Akhter, for our next ‘Pick His Brain’ session and I want to thank him for the participation.
Adeal is a digital marketer who loves engaging influencers.
His recent expert round-up post is a hit with everyone.
If you’ve ever wanted to get backlinks the whitehat way, expert roundup qualifies as one.
Please feel free to pick Adeal’s brain on creating and leveraging expert round-up posts.
Here are the rules.
1) I’ll let the thread go on until he asks me to stop. Theoretically, this thread can continue until bitcoin value goes to zero.
2) Please, no snarky remarks. I will not tolerate any intentional negativity. We are here to learn from each other’s success and strategies.
3) Please do not PM him and bother him. If you have a private question, ask for his permission on this thread when appropriate.
I want to begin my own Digital Media Agency which can cater clients locally and internationally. Which services should I focus to provide in beginning?
In general people expect to offer all the 3 critical services which come under digital marketing which are SEO, SEM, Social Media marketing.
I suggest start with the one you do best.
If you are good with SEO, start an SEO agency, if you are good with SEM, then start an SEM agency.
Build trust and relations and grow gradually.
I’m currently building a hotel website I’m confused about how I should get to page 1?
You will need to create a complete digital marketing plan.
What is your target audience. Are they families? Business travelers?
Identify the audience, and break your digital marketing plan into 2 parts. SEO and Content Marketing.
And then start working on both the areas separately.
Plan from scratch for both.
Are you building lists of influencers on IG?
No I haven’t tried it.
But it can be a great option depending upon your niche.
I personally love contacting influencers through their websites and Twitter.
Apart from that I maintain an excel sheet of influencers I got in touch.
What the best way to create an experts round up?
How has Google reacted to this post?
Unfortunately in terms of rankings and traffic it didn’t worked that way.
But the only reason is that I didn’t capitalized on techniques like Skyscraper, broken link building, outreach etc.
Which could have boosted the post further in every possible way.
I plan to do a small startup and wondered if link building and directory submissions in your opinion carry weight like they once have before social media became a staple SEO diet?
I recently read on Search Engine Journal (if I am correct) doing back linking on high quality directories still work, but mostly they are paid.
And unfortunately you will not find too many directories of high quality.
I will personally suggest, apart from round up post, go for guest postings.
They are deadly when it comes to get ranking.
However you will need to be consistent showing lot of patience.
But surely it works.
Expert Round up post is something which you cannot do every other day. You will need to use it very carefully.
Feel free to ask anymore questions.
And certainly thanks to Steven Kang for giving me an opportunity to interact with the community.
I am loving it
Can you share the roundup you did and also share the process you use to get to influencers?
You will find the complete details in these two case studies.
Here are the round ups
Got any template for Inviting people to link roundups
What are the other things I need to know and master before I can parade myself as an expert SEO?
SEO has basically 3 areas:
Onsite SEO, Off Site SEO and Technical SEO
KW research is a very small part these days of modern SEO.
You need to gain experience on technical SEO, content marketing (which has become an integral part of modern SEO) and you need to gain technical expertise if you want to start a result oriented SEO agency.
However the bitter reality is an individual cannot be an expert of technical SEO and content marketing at the same time as they both are very different.
One is highly creative and innovative while the other is technical.
Certainly you can gain some basic knowledge, which is good.
But you will need to partner up with some one either for technical SEO or for content marketing.
Off site SEO (link building) is another critical but an effective area you will need to explore.
Would you recommend a site or some kind of tool to learn technical SEO besides owning a website?
What should be the SEO strategy for women fashion blog?

Make sure you have chosen long tailed KWs too.
Make sure your site is well optimised.
Put Schema Markup.
Make website Mobile friendly.
Use NAP citation.
Do log of guest posting on sites with high DA and good traffic.
Embed Social media.
Take customer reviews and share them on social media and on the site.
Try to take interviews of authority in Fashion industry.
Not to forget expert Round ups.
